UPDATE (Jan.19th) The limited edition Against Me! "Blackout" watch is sold out at Vannen, but you can still pick one up in person during Against Me!'s current tour of the South East United States. Click here to see if the band is headed your way.
Vannen is excited to bring you “Blackout”, a new, limited edition watch for one of our favorite bands, Against Me! We’re long time fans of Against Me!, and we’ve spent the past three years discussing ideas and designs with the band. Everyone at Vannen and Against Me! are proud to finally release this amazing collaboration.
“Blackout” features new artwork by Steak Mtn. that turns past and present Against Me! songs into a pattern of glossy black icons on a matte black watch, holding true to the band’s “all black” aesthetic. Casual fans will enjoy the subtlety of the design, while die-hards can try to decipher the icons and figure out what each is inspired by. The icons carry over to the engravings on the back casing and crown, as well as the matte black packaging with glossy Against Me! logos. The Glove icon on the face is pad printed on the inner surface of the crystal giving the face of the watch some depth, and the hot pink hour and minute hands give the face a nice pop of color.
“Blackout” is limited to just 200 pieces, retails for $70 each, and comes in packaging signed by the entire band! Available at 9am PST Friday, January 17th only at VannenWatches.com and AgainstMe.net, with a limited amount of watches available on Against Me!’s current tour starting January 17th in Birmingham, Alabama. Watches available at AgainstMe.net will be sold as standalone pieces as well as part of bundles packs featuring the new album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, t-shirts, and more.

About AGAINST ME!
Against Me! began as an anarchist solo act in Gainesville, Florida in 1997, and transformed into a traditional four-piece a few years later. With a healthy dose of folk and even some old-school country in their sound, the band’s first three indie full-lengths (2002’s Against Me! is Reinventing Axl Rose, 2003’s As The Eternal Cowboy and 2005’s Searching For A Former Clarity) earned them a rabid and steadily growing following. Their 2007 major label debut, New Wave, was produced by Butch Vig (Nirvana, Garbage, Green Day) and named “Album of the Year” by SPIN Magazine.
After 2010’s White Crosses (which peaked at #34 on the Billboard charts), the band parted ways with Sire. It was at this time that frontman Tom Gabel went through an intense soul-searching phase and eventually decided to transition to living life as a woman and change her name to Laura Jane Grace, going public with the gender dysphoria she had been dealing with since childhood. Grace revealed her story in the May 12, 2012 issue of Rolling Stone.
Against Me!’s much-anticipated latest offering, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, is scheduled for release in January 2014. Because Transgender Dysphoria Blues marks the band’s first release with Grace as a woman, there are a lot of misconceptions: The record is neither a radical stylistic departure nor a “concept album.” Rather, it’s just another bold step forward for an artist doing what she has always done — forging her own path by processing the highs and lows of life through music.
