The film is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who also wrote the first film. The movie is shooting in Los Angeles, Cleveland and Washington, D.C., and will feature Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. In addition, Robert Redford has joined the cast as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader of the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization.
In March, Redford said he took the role “because it’s different. I like the idea of stepping into new territory,” Redford added. “I’m excited by it. I also think it’s a good bunch of people who really know what they’re doing.”
Though the 76-year-old Redford has not `appeared in a contemporary superhero/comic-book movie like “Captain America,” he said, “I think these films are really powerful. I think they’re great. This is the kind of film I would have loved to see as a kid.”
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will be paired with “Thor: The Dark World” in Marvel’s panel presentation at the upcoming pop culture expo. Marvel will hold its traditional closing-night slot on Saturday, July 20, in Hall H, Comic-Con’s marquee 6,500 seat venue. (via)
