Disney Buys Lucas Arts; New Star Wars Movies Planned

November 03, 2012

For anyone who sense a great disturbance in the Force recently, it's because Disney just laid out $4 billion to buy LucasFilmOn a conference call, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that in addition to Episode 7, episodes 8 and 9 are also in the works. The goal, Iger said, was to “release a new Star Wars feature film every two to three years.”

Now we can all look forward to direct-to-DVD releases such as "Star Wars 2: A Jawa's Journey" and a live musical show of the Star Wars Christmas Special performed at Epcot each year with the amazing Bea Arthur replaced by a slightly bewildered and irritated Maggie Smith.
