Grindhouse films of the 70′s were best known for exploiting an incredibly wide variety of not-so-tasteful topics. Their excessive images of sex and gore paired with a cheap production value surprisingly gave this genre a charm that is still appreciated today. This year we are looking for artwork inspired by these gritty low budget features of the 70′s. Our personal favorites include Unholy Rollers, Satan’s Cheerleaders and Death Race 2000.
Eat Your Art Out is an annual silent art auction fundraiser for Angel City Derby Girls, LA’s premiere, internationally top-ranked flat track roller derby league. All pieces are donated by artists. In exchange for their generosity, they will receive VIP treatment during the event, a pair of tickets to an Angel City Derby Girls home game in 2014, a gift bag of goodies and the undying adoration of our legion of derby girls.
Angel City Derby Girls have partnered with the Keep A Breast foundation for a portion of the show. The ladies behind the KAB Foundation have created breast molds of 12 Angel City athletes and they have invited top artists to turn them into pieces of art. All proceeds from these busts will be donated to the Keep A Breast Foundation.
