First Official Trailer for Luc Besson's Lucy

The first trailer has dropped for Luc Besson's "Lucy", a new sci-fi thriller starring Scarlett Johansson as a drug mule who accidentally ingests the drug she's smuggling and gains superpowers.

The premise sounds like something that could go south pretty easily, but in the hands of Luc Besson and Scarlet Johansson, the trailer is absolutely riveting. This is now two movies coming out this year featuring Morgan Freeman as a guy watching evolution take a massive leap right in front of his eyes (the other being Transcendence starring Johnny Depp).

From La Femme Nikita and The Professional to The Fifth Element, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. Also starring Morgan Freeman, Lucy hits theaters August 8th, 2014.
