Nirvana Day to Be Celebrated in Hoquiam, Washington

December 30, 2013

Nirvana
April 10th, 2014 has been designated as the first-ever "Nirvana Day" in Hoquiam, Washington.
We're kind of rolling our eyes on this one. Kurt was born and raised in Aberdeen, four miles away from Hoquiam. The mayor is quick to point out that "Kurt lived there for a little while" but....meh. It's always nice to see Nirvana honored and remembered, but this one seems pretty weird and contrived, and feels like a publicity grab from a dump of Pacific NW town looking to cash in on the fact that on the same day, Nirvana is being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
