A trailer for an upcoming Johnny Cash release -- his fourth posthumous album since his 2003 death -- features a previously unheard song.
The 40-second trailer for "Out Among the Stars," scheduled for a 2014 release, includes a snippet of "You Used to Love Me a Lot," featuring a characteristically deep-voiced Cash brooding over lost love with acoustic backing. The song was originally recorded by David Allan Coe in 1984, peaking at No. 11 on the Hot Country Singles chart.
"You Used to Love Me a Lot" isn't the only new Cash material included on the album; "Out Among the Stars" features 12 total tracks recorded during the '80s in sessions with producer Billy Sherrill. However, the album was shelved by Columbia and long thought lost -- that is, unitl John Carter found the tapes last year.
"Out Among the Stars" is planned for a March 25 release on Sony's Legacy Recordings.
