Pixies Announce New Bassist; Drop New Video

December 09, 2013

Paz Lenchantin Joins Pixies
Paz Lenchatin, who has played with A Perfect Circle and the Entrance Band as well as the Billy Corgan project Zwan, will be joining the Pixies as they kick off their 33-date North American tour on January 15th. Paz Lenchatin replaces the Muff's Kim Shattuck, who revealed at the end of November that she was disappointed to be parting ways with the band. Shattuck took the bass spot in the Pixies after founding bassist Kim Deal left in the middle of the recording sessions for the band's latest album, EP-1.
"We are really looking forward to playing with [Paz] on these dates," drummer David Lovering said in a statement. "Working with different bass players is very new for the band, but we're having a great time doing it."
In addition to a new touring member, the Pixies also announced a series of South American and European festival dates for the spring. After wrapping up their North American tour in March, they'll head south for Chile, Argentina and Brazil before heading to Europe for 12 festival dates including Primavera Sound and Field Day in London.
The Pixies also unveiled a new video for their EP-1 song "Another Toe in the Ocean." Featuring a fantastic cityscape populated by truckloads of cats and ninjas with ice cream cones, the clip was created by the Romanian animator Liviu Boar.
